ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 11, the Sons and Daughters of Hawley present the 119th annual celebration of Hawley Day.
The event starts at about 10:00 AM at the Meetinghouse in East Hawley with a “koffee klatch,” where drinks and pastries will be available. A variety of Hawley-themed items, gifts, and books will also be available for purchase. While at the koffee klatch check out our new sign and notice board.
The program will be a little different this year:
♦ Beginning at 11 a.m. with the Sons and Daughters annual business meeting and a celebration of life. It will include a review of what the group has been up to, some special presentations, and a celebration of the lives of those who have gone before us.
♦ Weather-permitting, lunch will be out at the picnic tables in front of the Grove (inside the Grove if it rains). It will be a potluck. Attenders are urged to bring a favorite dish. The Sons and Daughters will provide a variety of cold salads, drinks, and desserts. There will be music by Denny Avery and Jim Egan and games on the lawn.
♦ Check out the videos of prior events and things of interest to Hawley people. These will be playing on laptops inside the Grove – do stop and enjoy them!
⇒ one on the archaeology dig programs that the Sons and Daughters ran,
⇒ one on the creation of the Hawley Old Town Common,
⇒ one on the history of some of the improvements that we have done on our buildings, and
⇒ ….. perhaps one or two other surprises!
