FULL-TIME HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WORKER
The Town of Hawley is seeking a full-time Highway Department Worker to participate in the maintenance of town roadways, rights of way and town owned properties, as well as town-owned equipment. This includes interaction with town road maintenance employees and contractors, reporting to the Hawley Highway Superintendent, while performing varied functions including hand work and machinery and vehicle operation.
Compensation is an hourly rate based on 40 hours per week plus overtime provisions. Work will include evening, night and early morning hours during snow season and emergencies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and skills relating to a number of tasks, including heavy equipment operation and maintenance, snow and ice removal, road and culvert maintenance, and general labor equivalent to a high school diploma or two to three years of prior experience.
The candidate hired will be required to show a Valid MA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B), Hoisting License 2A, (plus 4G within three months of hire) with front end loader, backhoe, and side mower endorsements.
