The Charlemont-Hawley Arts Council works to distribute funds from the state to local artists and organizations doing work in the arts, humanities, and sciences. Its budget varies annually depending on the vagaries of the legislature. It helps local schools and such organizations as the Sons & Daughters of Hawley put on programs that might otherwise be difficult to manage financially.
