An INFORMATIONAL MEETING “. . . explaining the Settlement agreed to by Hawley, ET&L and DEP Regarding the Restoration of the Chickley River” was held at the Hawlemont School in Charlemont from 7 – 9 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. An estimated 60-70 residents were in attendance. PLEASE NOTE that this meeting, which was originally discussed in Town Selectboard meetings in late 2012 and early 2013, was organized and sponsored by a group of private citizens of Hawley, and occurred outside the oversight of official Town governance. However, both the Town Counsel and the Chairperson of the Hawley Finance Committee were present to provide reports and answer questions. The details of the meeting are provided here in response to widespread interest and the public nature of the meeting topics.
