Hawley Fire Fighters Render Aid At
Motor Vehicle Crash Site Outside Greenfield

On the afternoon of Sunday, March 12, 2023, as some of you may already know, there was a major motor vehicle accident involving a head on collision on the Mohawk Trail (Massachusetts Route 2) just west of Greenfield. What you may not be aware of is the fact that four members of the Hawley Volunteer Fire Department were passing through at the time and were therefore the first responders on scene.

They stopped and rendered aid as well as assisting local responders and law enforcement with traffic control. Our recognition and thanks go to Lt. Brandon C. Root, Malik Johnson, Scott Kugler, and Jacob Gilbert.  The actions of these young men are a credit to their Department, the Town of Hawley, and the thousands of brave citizen volunteers throughout this country who keep us safe every day.
